Interview with Edd Muruako

Edd Muruako is starring in the “darkly comedic and wildly sexy” Very Special Guest Star which is currently playing at Clapham’s Omnibus Theatre. I caught up with Edd to find out more.

Can you tell me about Very Special Guest Star?
Its a play about an inter-racial same sex couple that decide to have a threesome with a much younger guy to recapture their youth and reignite the fire in their relationship. In pursuit of that, shocks and twists unfold along the way.

What attracted you to the production?
The part was so well written, the characters were fully fleshed out and it was a story I had never heard told before so I was excited to be part of it.

Tell me about your character, Phil
Phil is the steady hand on the wheel in the relationship, a man with many insecurities that he suppresses for the good of family life.

What can audiences expect?
The audience can expect a good night out as they experience a very unique, funny, touching, shocking, outlandish but extremley plausible story.

How does it feel to be bringing the play to the Omnibus Theatre?
It feels great. I’ve never been to the Omnibus before. So far the staff are great and I love the theatre space.

What would you like Very Special Guest Star to achieve?
I would like it to open dialogue exploring the prejudices we all have about ourselves and others and for it to unlock awareness on  more diverse story telling which hopefully will provide a stepping stone for more under represented voices to be heard in the future.

Very Special Guest Star runs at the Omnibus Theatre until 12 December.
